Project scope:
The dismantling, processing and disposal off site of a redundant electrostatic precipitator and associated plant, structures, ducting and equipment.
Health & Safety:
Site and project specific Risk Assessments were undertaken in the development of the project Health & Safety Plan. Site and project specific Method statements were prepared following evaluation of risks. Method Statements were made available to the Client for comment prior to action. The final method, assessed against the day-to-day activities of the busy site, taking into consideration such issues as working at height and the limited working area, led to a project plan and time scale to suit all parties involved.
Client – Contractor Communication:
Due to the ongoing production on site and the limited working area a high degree of contractor, client and subcontractor liaison had to be maintained during the project. Frequent meetings were held at all levels (ranging from management to toolbox talks with the site operatives) to ensure that an adequate flow of essential information was provided. This ensured that the highest Health, Safety and Environmental standards were maintained.
Outcome:
Validation of the project’s compliance to SHE legislation was essential for the future development of site. All relevant information required by the Planning Supervisor/Coordinator was efficiently supplied allowing the completion of the Health & Safety File (including full traceability of all materials arising).
