Project scope:

The dismantling and neutralisation of equipment containing potentially trapped chemicals, followed by the demolition and site clearance of a redundant Fluoroaromatics Plant and associated structures and equipment.

An assessment of the plant was carried out to highlight possible entrapment areas potentially containing Hydrofluoric acid (HF).

The removal and disposal from site of hazardous, difficult and general waste, including the removal and disposal of Asbestos and HF neutralising agent.

Project Assessment:

A full project assessment was undertaken to allow for project and site specific Risk Assessments to be carried out, and for the development of site and project specific Method Statements and the Construction Phase Safety Plan.

Client – Contractor Communication:

Frequent meetings were held at all levels (ranging from management to toolbox talks with the site operatives) to ensure that an adequate flow of essential information was provided. This ensured that the highest Health, Safety, Environmental and quality standards were maintained.

Outcome:

Validation of the project’s compliance to SHE legislation was essential for the future development of site. All relevant information required by the CDM Coordinator was efficiently supplied allowing the completion of the Health & Safety File (including full traceability of all materials arising).
