Demolition and dismantling of steel plating presses and associated plant to allow re-development of the site.
Actions taken:
Definition of project scope and responsibilities. Identification of waste disposal and management options. Decontamination of pits and chambers. Dismantling of furnaces, with controlled handling and disposal of fibrous waste. Dismantling of 3000 tonne press, using ‘Megalift’, to allow sale for re-use. In situ hot processing of 12000 tonne press for recycling. Backfill and Compaction of pits and Voids to create a safe environment for redevelopment. Final site clearance of all residual debris.
