Project scope:

The demolition of assembly shops and office buildings down to slab-level; removal and safe and proper disposal of all materials leaving a level, clear and fenced site. The facility in North Wales manufactured large pressure cylinders. The site consisted of a wide variety of structures ranging from 30 meter high workshops containing large pits and voids to office facilities. The site contained several changes in level.

Project Management:

Due to the site being closed, the management infrastructure relating to site control measures was no longer in place. B.D.B implemented a Safe System of Work. Management systems were developed taking into consideration our priorities of ensuring the safety of our workforce, maintaining legal compliance and meeting statutory regulation. Management tools were developed in the form of control documents, checklists and audit sheets, permit systems, meeting agendas, Risk Assessments and Method statements, etc.

Outcome:

Validation of the project’s compliance to SHE legislation was essential for the future development of the site. All relevant information required by the CDM Coordinator was supplied, allowing the completion of the Health & Safety File (including full traceability of all materials arising).
