PROJECT – Removal of Chimney Stack
LOCATION – UK
DATE – October 2015
PROJECT DESCRIPTION – The newly acquired site is currently under major refurbishment in preparation for its future use as a manufacturing facility for a blue chip pharmaceutical company.
As a result of our competitive price and experience, we were called upon to remove the 30-meter-tall redundant chimney stack, weighing in the region of 20 tons.
Although the lift was relatively simple in comparison with previous stack removal projects we have undertaken, we afforded the same diligence and calculated that a 100-ton crane would provide ample lifting capacity.
The stack was removed in 3 sections, with operatives using a second crane with man riding basket for access. Hot methods were employed to split the stack into sections and when processing at ground level, always controlled through our rigorous permit system.
The Client was delighted with our performance on site and as a result instructed BDB Dismantling to carryout further work.
