PROJECT: Lamont Style Boiler Clean & PGM Recovery
LOCATION: Australia
DATE: April 2018
CLIENT:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As part of the Clients onsite maintenance schedule to improve plant efficiency, BDB Dismantling, working together with K.A. Rasmussen, were awarded the contract to clean the Lamont waste heat boiler & process collected deposits to recover PGM materials.
Our joint proposal offered the Client a “one stop” option that encompassed: –
– the onsite boiler clean by our dedicated team of specialist operatives using our patent pending RAV system
– destructive removal and clean of inefficient boiler components to include; five superheater coils; two evaporator coils; catalyst basket
– secure collection, packing & storage of deposits arising from the clean
– onward shipment of recovered deposits to our dedicated facility in Norway
– Refining of deposits in Norway to recover PGM material
The boiler upgrade work was carried out during plant shutdown, where BDB Dismantling was one of a number of contractors working on the project. Meticulous planning & strict timings were essential to meet the critical path deadline. During the planning stage, regular communications were maintained with the Client so to ensure all eventualities were assessed and covered. During site operations our representatives attended daily project coordination & progress meetings.
Our refining facilities in the USA and Norway use techniques that separate the PGM bearing material into individual precious metal elements – one of a small number of refineries Worldwide who are equipped to be able to do this. This was inevitably one of the deciding factors why we were awarded the contract.
