PROJECT – Demolition & Site Clearance of Former Oil Storage Depot
LOCATION – London Road, Dorchester, Dorset
DATE – December 2014 to February 2015
PROJECT VALUE – £100,000
CLIENTS –
PROJECT DESCRIPTION – Taking the role of Principal Contractor & CDMC BDB Dismantling have leveled the former London Road oil storage depot clearing the way for future development in this idyllic rural location.
Initial preliminary works began with the construction of the timber hoarding and the removal of the licensed asbestos products both by BDB approved sub-contractors. An internal strip out was carried out of the office units before structural demolition took place, working from one side of the site to the next.
The site was historically used for oil storage (both above and below ground tanks & vessels) for a number of years. The ground investigation commissioned by the Clients within the planning phase confirmed the sub-slab areas to be heavily contaminated with leached oil.
BDB worked closely with the appointed Environmental consultant where the concrete slab and sub structures were removed under their guidance and instructions, ensuring that soil below could be examined and tested to determine the level of contamination & remediation needed.
